What We Do With Donations
Reece’s Wish has three main pillars: upgraded patient areas, research and wish granting. Reece hopes that that by contributing to these three areas he can maximize his help for fellow pediatric cancer patients. Learn more about what Reece is helping improve by fulfilling his wish.
Through working with Teen Cancer America, Reece’s Wish has created partnerships with Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville and Kentucky Children’s Hospital in Lexington, the two pediatric cancer centers in Kentucky. Reece and his family have first-hand knowledge of the need to give kids of all ages more to do when in the hospital. Staying engaged is key to maintaining a positive outlook which is extremely important for children and young adults battling cancer. Through the expertise of Teen Cancer America, Reece will help guide improvements in technology, space, comfort and usability in the pediatric cancer wards at both Kosair and Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
Reece is currently the youngest candidate in the history of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year Campaign. Although Reece’s support of LLS will be ongoing, he is doing all he can before May 30th, 2015 to raise funds for LLS. Funding research is required if we are to find a cure for this terrible disease. Let’s hope one day there will no longer be a need to raise another penny…’Til the Battle is Won!!!
As of early 2015, nearly 200 children in Kentucky are waiting on the resources needed to grant their wish requests. Reece’s Family will tell you the Miracle of Make-A-Wish is not the wish itself, but the anticipation of the wish. During many of the darkest times, if you just mentioned the wish to Reece, his mind went to work. Flying on Air Force One, meeting a World Famous Magician, hanging with Jack Black, helping Kid President, attending the Grand Opening of Harry Potter World and having Pete Nelson build him a Treehouse were just some of his wish ideas. Reece wants all children facing this battle to have all their wishes come true.
